At the Sony E3 2018 event, Sony unveiled a host of new games. An exclusive game that caught my eye was the new Spider-Man game, coming out this September 7th.
I’ve never been particularly fond of superhero or movie related games – they’re typically disappointing or poorly conceived with a weak plot and don’t have any real stakes. But the new Spider-Man showcase really caught my attention.
Marvel’s Spider-Man Showcase Demo
The gameplay looks like it’s part of the cinematics, completely immerses you into the action and directly into the story. A lot of new games you have to spend a lot of time learning the controls and letting the story develop, but from the video you fall straight into the spider web with simplistic gameplay.
It appears the Sinister Six, including Spider-Man’s popular enemies Electro, Vulture, Scorpion, Rhino and Mister Negative, all have escaped the maximum security prison The Raft. Spider-Man swings straight into action. The demo confidently showcases the gaming studio Insomniac’s strength, with acrobatic, combo-based attacks and variety of gadgets the player will have at their disposal.
Appears to be the best Spider-Man gamer ever
I remember playing previous Spider-Man games, where you web-swing around the city. Although it was fun at first it became tedious and the gameplay was overall lightweight and forgettable. The games appear to have been quickly made with no real sense of direction or lasting promise. But in the new game, the web-slinging and bouncing off surfaces looks insanely fun, and fast-paced, making it entertaining with a sense of purpose to chase down and stop runaway villains.
It might be a bit early to say, or wishful thinking, but judging from the trailer the web-swinging action, is very impressive. I dare to say, perhaps, the best we have seen to date. Polygon, had a one-hour gameplay and confirmed it’s by far the best Spider-Man game.
Who is Spider-Man’s mystery villain?
Watching the demo video, you can’t help but wonder who the final villain is, that Spider-Man saw. I personally think it was the Green Goblin or his alter ego, Norman Osborne. This would complete the Sinister Six band of menacing villains. Who do you think the mysterious villain is?
This game will be available exclusively on the PlayStation 4 on the September 7th this year. I just pre-ordered this on Amazon. I can’t wait to don the Spider-Man outfit and swing into action.
